we are called to love one another to encourage one another to bear with one another to forgive one another to live in harmony with one another to serve one another to submit to one another to be devoted to one another to honor one another to accept one another to agree with one another to instruct, teach and admonish one another to be kind and compassionate to one another to greet one another to speak to one another to clothe ourselves with humility toward one another to offer hospitality to one another to have fellowship with one another to spur one another on toward love and good deeds
thankfully we do not have to be enough for one another
i think part of the impetus to write those words for me came when we sat in the hospital room with mary and we were together in the fact that we could not heal her all of us were working out of our insufficiencies in one way or another
what we really need cannot be contained in any one person yet any one person can lend a hand or an eye and that can go quite a ways can go quite deep can be the temporary salve we all need along the pilgrim trail limping shuffling walking backwards falling down hopping crawling sashaying skipping dragging we all go along
i would suppose that at any one moment a person or a group can be sufficient unto the day
a mother is enough for a child as long as the practicalities of nurturing are in force...but wings do grow and people fly away like birds on migration

this sounds like something
that dr thomas could turn
into an argument for
the existence of god
we are called
to love one another
to encourage one another
to bear with one another
to forgive one another
to live in harmony with one another
to serve one another
to submit to one another
to be devoted to one another
to honor one another
to accept one another
to agree with one another
to instruct, teach and admonish one another
to be kind and compassionate to one another
to greet one another
to speak to one another
to clothe ourselves with humility toward one another
to offer hospitality to one another
to have fellowship with one another
to spur one another on toward love and good deeds
thankfully
we do not have to be
enough for one another
even though
the hand is not enough for the eye
the eye cannot say to the hand
i have no need of you
(sorry if i am polluting
the simple purity of de gustibus
but this post really got me thinking)
