Bach worked for the King (or princes and nobles, at least). The same holds, a fortiori, for he vast majority of musick-makers, whether they play Bach, Basie, or Capn Beefheart.
Apollo deceives, nearly as often as Dionysius doth. That said, Apollonian music would be, by definition, orderly--like Bach. Herr Apollo's probably not down with most pop/rock/hiphop noise, or those sad, simple laments called the blooze.
Really, few musick equals like a starling, or thrushes' or nightowl's tune. Or cicadas...whoa: they f-ing rock. Messiaen attemped to notate birdsong at times: some fairly close. Try like playing a starling's tune on piano or yr gtar: muy dificil .
phuq herr apollo
Harsh, dewd. That's from Nietzsche's old distinctions, however non-clerical. FN had read his greeks, at least--and latins, in the original tongues.
I got an ol' Muddy tape around somewheres....
I got an axe handle pistol on a graveyard frame / That shoot tombstone bullets, wearin' balls and chain ...
That ain't from the frat-house or granola cafe.
Check out some of Lightnin' Messiaen's riffs. Interesting--especially when he uses the early theramins (like, in 40s). Or don't.
i play a version of utah phillips tune roock salt adn nails
and i use a simulation technique
that imitates bird song
i am a big fan of messiaen
i listened to only his music for a rather long period
two months i guess
do you know his work using the ondes martenot
turangalila
I have a CD of the Turangalila--an odd but fascinating piece of musick. Ondes = waves, right. That's an early theramin, or radio-wave generator of some type, I believe, controlled by hand, with a small metal wand--tho' a few different types existed.
