Heidegger at times--at least after the Big Red One-- seems nearly Luddite-ish in his thinking (though a poetic, bavarian sort of Ludd-ism)--recall his discussion of Techne. MH couldn't stand the hydro plants they put across his beloved Rhine, for one.
Interesting metaphor from McLuhan however. McLuhan also was a pen pal of...Ezra Pound.
