Nothing so distracts the human heart as sexual desire. How foolish men’s hearts are! Aroma, for instance, is a mere transient thing, yet a whiff of delightful incense from a woman’s robes will always excite a man, though he knows perfectly well that it is just a passing effect of robe-smoking. The wizard priest of Kume is said to have lost his supernatural powers when he spied the white legs of a woman as she squatted washing clothes. I can quite believe it — after all, the beautiful, plump, glowing flesh of a woman’s arm or leg is quite a different matter from some artificial allurement.

I have been called a curmudgeon, which my obsolescent dictionary defines as a ‘surly, ill-mannered, bad-tempered fellow’. Nowadays, curmudgeon is likely to refer to anyone who hates hypocrisy, cant, sham, dogmatic ideologies, and has the nerve to point out unpleasant facts and takes the trouble to impale these sins on the skewer of humor and roast them over the fires of fact, common sense, and native intelligence. In this nation of bleating sheep and braying jackasses, it then becomes an honor to be labeled curmudgeon.

Feminism's been bat-shit crazy since day one. The anti-suffragette leader Katie Roosevelt stated that giving women the vote would ultimately destroy Western society.   Look at the world today.   Western society is on the same downward spiral into insanity and self-destruction as Ancient Rome when toxic gynocentricity took over.   It's over for Western society.  The point of no return has passed a long time ago.   History has shown time and again that no society has ever recovered after passing the point of no return.

a skiers' prayer

Let me give thanks, dear Lord, in the frailty of age,
for the beloved mountains of my youth,
 for the challenge of rock and for the joy of skiing,
for the friends with whom I climbed and skied,
and above all, dear Lord,
for the moments of revelation
when the moments of temporal beauty
of the mountains reinforces my faith
in the eternal beauty
which is not subject to decay.
